How to add items to your collection — manually or with smart suggestions.

Adding items to your collection

There are two ways to add items: type everything in yourself, or let Owlect help you with smart suggestions.

Adding an item manually

1Open your collection

2Tap the **"+"** button

3Type the item name

4Fill in any fields you want (you can skip some — they are all optional)

5Upload a photo if you have one

6Tap **"Save"**

Using smart suggestions

For most collection types, Owlect can find information for you automatically:

1Start typing the item name in the name field

2A dropdown appears with suggestions from online databases

3Tap the one that matches your item

4Owlect fills in the details — name, year, and even a cover image!

For example:

Board games — search finds games from BoardGameGeek with player count and play time

Vinyl records — search finds albums from Discogs with artist, label, and genre

Pokemon cards — search finds cards with set, rarity, and card image

Books — search finds books with author, publisher, and cover

LEGO — search finds sets with piece count and images

You can always edit any field after Owlect fills it in. The suggestions are just a starting point!

What about the photo?

If you use smart search, Owlect often finds a photo automatically. But you can always upload your own photo instead — your photo will be kept and won't be replaced.
