Auto-fill from Catalogs

Save time by auto-filling item details from external databases.

How auto-fill works

When you add a new item to your collection, Owlect can automatically fill in details like name, year, images, and other fields. Just start typing the item name, and suggestions will appear.

  • 1Open your collection and tap "Add Item"
  • 2Start typing the item name
  • 3Suggestions appear below the input field
  • 4Tap a suggestion to auto-fill all available fields
  • 5Review and adjust if needed, then save
  • What gets auto-filled

Depending on your collection type, different details are filled in automatically:

  • Board Games — name, year, player count, play time, rating, images
  • Music — artist, album, year, label, genre, format, cover art
  • Pokemon Cards — set, card number, rarity, HP, artist, images
  • LEGO Sets — set number, theme, piece count, year, minifigures
  • Books — author, ISBN, publisher, year, pages, cover images
  • Watches — brand, model, reference, movement, case details
  • Cars — make, model, year, body type, engine details
  • Coins — country, denomination, year, metal, catalog info
  • Comic Books — series, issue, publisher, year, cover images
  • Funko Pop — series, number, variant
  • Hot Wheels — series, collector number, year, color
  • Retro Games — platform, publisher, genre, year, images
  • API keys

Most collection types work without any setup. A few require a free API key:

  • 1Go to Settings in the app menu
  • 2Scroll to API Keys
  • 3Enter the key for the service you want to use
  • 4The key is saved to your account
  • Collection types that need API keys: LEGO, Watches, Coins, Comic Books, Retro Games.

    Auto-fill vs. Sync

  • Auto-fill works when adding items one by one — you search and pick from suggestions
  • Sync imports your entire collection at once — see Sync from BGG & Discogs for details
