Add LEGO Sets with Rebrickable Auto-Fill
Type a set number — year, pieces, and image fill in
Every LEGO box has a set number, and that is all Owlect needs. Add a set, type its number (or its name), and Owlect searches Rebrickable as you go. Choose the match and the set number, release year, piece count, and the official set image fill in automatically — so each set you add lands complete, with its photo, instead of empty fields to chase. Theme, minifigure count, and build status are yours to add in a couple of taps.
How it works
Add the free Rebrickable key once
Rebrickable lookup uses a free API key. Paste yours in Settings the first time — it takes a minute and then every LEGO collection on your account can look sets up. (No key? You can still add sets by hand.)
Open your LEGO collection and add a set
Open a LEGO Sets collection and tap “Add Item”. The name field is also the search box, so there is nothing else to switch on.
Search by set number or name
Type the set number printed on the box — 75192, say — or the set’s name. After three characters Owlect queries Rebrickable and lists matches, each showing the set number, year, and piece count so the right box is easy to spot.
Pick the set and finish
Tap your set. Owlect auto-fills the set number, year, and piece count, and uses the official set image as the photo. Add the theme, how many minifigures it came with, and the build status (sealed, built, incomplete, parts only), then save.
What gets imported
These come straight from the Rebrickable record when you pick a set — theme, minifigure count, and build status stay yours to set.

Frequently asked questions
Can Owlect look up a LEGO set by its number?
Yes — the set number on the box is the fastest way to find an exact set. Type it into the add-item search and Owlect pulls the year, piece count, and set image from Rebrickable. Searching by set name works too.
Which set details fill in automatically?
Picking a match auto-fills the set number, release year, and piece count, and sets the official set image as the photo. Theme, minifigure count, and build status are not in the lookup, so you add those yourself.
Do I need a Rebrickable API key?
Yes, a free Rebrickable key, pasted once in Settings. Rebrickable issues keys at no cost, and a single key covers every LEGO lookup on your account. Without one you can still add sets manually and upload your own photos.
What if a set is not on Rebrickable?
Rebrickable’s catalog is broad, but a very new or unusual set can be missing. When it is, add the set by typing the number, pieces, and year yourself and uploading a photo of your build.
Can I add a lot of sets at once instead?
Auto-fill is one set at a time. If you already track your collection in a spreadsheet, the CSV import maps Set Number, Theme, Pieces, and Year columns and brings the whole inventory in together.
